Mainframe
Mainframe is an independent motion design studio
specialising in motion graphics and animation for commercials, VFX, promos, broadcast branding and sponsorship campaigns.
They have done projects for many big UK and global companies like Channel 4,
MTV, BBC, Disney and VH1. Mainframe is operating
in a multidisciplinary environment recruiting producers, designers and 2D and 3D animators to produce work from designing new
characters through to hi-end compositing.
It is based in London and has recently expanded opening a design studio in Manchester and relocated in London spending over £1 million. Adam Jenns, the founder and managing director of Mainframe, notes;
“It is a bumpy period for the whole world and we feel very fortunate to be expanding in times like this. It would feel like a bit too much of a risk but we experience a steady flow of repeat and new business that’s coming our way. There has been an increase in motion graphics commercials demand and online animation work, particularly in the past two years.”
Answering why he thinks commercials companies prefer them over traditional video producers he said;
"We are more cost effective and can spend more time with them. The upturn in motion graphics to producers is the ability to save on the cost of shoots.”
He also explains that the most difficult part in the job is meeting the demands of the clients.
“Clients want to be made to look good, and they more often than not want to have some input into a job. Occasionally clients will give us some good visual reference, which we like, but things go downhill if you encounter a client that wants you to copy a piece of work that another agency has done, or wants to ‘correct’ parts of the video we think should not change.”
